The mega-hit show Bridgerton is set to return to screens this June and with it comes a keen-eyed look at the delights of ‘Regencycore’ styling. What is Regencycore you may ask?
Well, it takes in the refined drapes, extravagant detailing, exotic colour displays, and unusual architecturally inspired patterns seen during the Regency period of history. Bridgerton is set during these years, roughly speaking 1795 and 1837. The era takes its name from the reign of the Prince Regent between 1811 and 1820, who was later to become George IV.
But moving away from the royal history, what were the tastes and fashions? The prime indicators of Regency-inspired style are a taste for the striking, the unusual and the elegantly crafted.
Here at Homecolours, we love how the Regency era brought distinct finery, bright colouring, and intricate detailing to the home in lavish style.
The above Royal Botanic Gardens Kew Florentina Bedding has all of these features in maximum effect. The gorgeous collection of duvet covers and pillowcases has been extraordinarily designed to take in deep green leaves and white star-shaped flowers atop a bold golden-yellow background.
Inspired by Kew Garden’s archive of Ammi Majus flower illustrations, the bedding is at once comforting and resplendent.
