3 Tips for Working from Home in Style

3 Tips for Working from Home in Style

As more and more of us are working from home, here at Homecolours we thought it would be a good idea to think about the essentials of home working.

There are several ways that designer products can help with managing time and resources. Here are our 4 tips for successful home working

Keep Regular Hours

Trying to replicate some of the factors of working outside the home can be helpful when working at home. This is certainly the case with those who are new to home working. By keeping hours as close to the working day we are familiar with, the shift in working area will not be as dramatic.

Waking up at the same time each working day is a useful step to take in this. A reliable and well-styled alarm clock is a big help in this. A gorgeous clock such as the above (also cover) Newgate Clocks Brick Lane Alarm Clock is perfect for waking up promptly. With its virtually silent ticking, the clock is only loud when it needs to be! Stylishly constructed and available in a range of colours, the clock is a great combination of design and production.

Set Yourself Regular Breaks

Aim to take a break every 75 – 90 mins. This will help to keep your mind sharp and ideas focused. Breaking for 15 mins will provide a boost to energy levels. This will help the brain to hold onto information and process it better, meaning that when you return you get straight back to it anew.

During your break doing something unrelated to work, such as the classic having a cup of tea, is a great way of breaking up the bouts of activity. The above Lyngby Porcelain Rhombe Teacup with Matching Saucer offers a gorgeous way to enjoy a break. Sophisticated and expertly styled, the teacup draws on Lyngby’s 1961 design archive for a perfectly elegant distinction.

Take a Walk for Exercise

Regular exercise of any sort is part of the recommended routine for everyone. For many people this is often the walk to work, or from the train station or car. When working from home, it can be more difficult to do this, but it is still an important to go for at least a brief walk around the block. This will provide another break, while also giving the brain and body extra oxygen and adrenalin.

Having all of your shoes and bags well ordered near the front door provides good peace of mind for home styling. If you’re making one or two short walks around the local area during your working day, its useful to have items neatly ready. The above Umbra Shoe Sling Storage Rack is great for keeping shoes in perfect order, ready for the next time you need to go out.
